Cracking Christmas presents!
A regular client asked me to illustrate their homes in Normandy and Spain, for Christmas presents to her three daughters and husband, in 2023. I was delighted, as the houses and landscapes are beautiful and interesting to paint!
The illustration of her husband’s home above (and favourite place) in Normandy was created out of two photos, to get the angle just right. We included the barn, the house, the stables behind, as well as his two prized vintage cars and the wild boar statue that was so emblematic of the estate.
The interior illustration above is full of cosy antiques and of a typical rural Normandy style. For the Normandy landscape with the vignettes, we wanted to include the two donkeys on the estate that were particularly beloved to one of the daughters.
The two illustrations of my client’s Spanish villa, one view of the house and the other of the pool, were given to her two remaining daughters, and framed with a pop of colour to reflect the warmth and boldness of colour associated with warmer climates.
