Sharing one of my favourite invitations of the summer! A gatefold wedding invitation with a watercolour coastal map, and calligraphy.
I loved creating this coastal invitation set with Miles & Sophie, who had come across my invitation designs at another wedding. They had fantastic ideas, wanting a bold and colourful design, with nautical features such as fish, flowers and shells.
We used calligraphy throughout the invitation, to match the formal invitation insert, and the couple’s initials on the gatefold cover.
The wedding took place in Salcombe Harbour, near the bride’s family home. I created a watercolour map of the coastal area, plotting the way from their wedding church to the house and marquee.
The view over the coast looked absolutely stunning from their photos!
I love how Miles & Sophie wanted the map to be printed in the centre of the gatefold invitation, rather than as an insert. The final design felt unique and joyful.
We included architectural features such as the local pub, and the location for the Sunday party. We also added a little illustration of the bride and groom zooming off in the family speedboat!
I then provided the boat motif to the couple for use on a cute matchbox design, a small gift for all their guests created by Printed by Polly.
We also separated the church from the map for use on the cover of the Order of Service for the church wedding ceremony. Together with my trademark calligraphy, the result was uplifting yet suitably formal in style.
All my bespoke wedding stationery is painted by hand in watercolour, scanned and formatted, and then printed onto card.
